Study tools
Three tools for the skills the exam actually tests.
Finding answers fast, getting the math right, and sitting the exam on a screen that behaves like the real one. Code Book Mode and the Workbench below are working demos. The Exam Simulator is a layout preview.
Demos and previews · not exam content
Code Book Mode · interactive preview
Practice the lookup, not just the answer.
Each round gives you a job-site scenario and starts the clock. Pick the chapter, then the article. This is the skill that decides whether you finish an exam where you bring your own code book. The full trainer will track your time per topic and point you at the sections you keep missing.
Scenario
You need the rules for grounding and bonding a service.
Where would you look first?
Choose a chapter
Read the scenario, then start the clock. The chapter list appears when the timer starts.
Illustrative demo. Scenarios are written by CARE for this page, are not exam questions, and article names are short descriptions, not code text. Real practice will follow the code edition your board adopts.

Calculation Workbench · interactive preview
See every step. Catch the slip that costs the point.
Change the job, work the problem yourself, then compare with the full solution. The finished workbench will check each step you take and name the habit behind a wrong answer.
Worked solution
- 1Formula VD = (2 × K × I × L) ÷ CM
- 2Values K = 12.9, I = 20 A, L = 120 ft, CM = 10,380
- 3Numerator 2 × 12.9 × 20 × 120 = 61,920
- 4Voltage drop 5.97 V
- 5Percent of source 4.97%
Above the common 3% branch-circuit design target.
A 6 AWG copper conductor would bring this job within 3%.
The 3% figure is a design guideline given in informational notes of the code, not a mandatory rule. Actual exam questions follow the method and tables your board's code edition and bulletin specify.
Illustrative demo using a simplified copper model. It is not exam content and not for designing real circuits.
Exam Simulator · layout preview · in development
Practice on a screen that behaves like the real one.
The simulator will follow each exam's own structure: its parts, timing and rules about references. Below is a layout preview only. It has no questions and it is not a working exam.
Question area (placeholder)
Code lookup and theory. Where the exam allows your own code book, the simulator will model that.
Preview of a screen layout drawn by CARE. Nothing on this panel is exam content.
